The Difference Between an ENT and an Audiologist

Ear, Nose & Throat and Audiologist's work closely together to help evaluate and treat hearing loss. Their specialties are different but compatible.

Audiologist

  • Has a Doctorate in Audiology.
  • A licensed healthcare professional who can evaluate, diagnose and treat hearing loss, balance disorders and tinnitus.
  • Complete necessary hearing tests to determine the degree and type of hearing loss.

(ENT) Specialist or Otolaryngologist

  • Has a Doctorate of Medicine.
  • A physician that focuses on the head, neck, ear, nose, and throat.
  • ENTs can use hearing test performed by an Audiologist to help determine how to medically evaluate the patient further if needed.
